Firefighters were called to the corner of Red Lion Road and Northeast Avenue in the city's Bustleton section around 7:45 a.m. Monday to help the trapped ducks. The rescue wasn't so straightforward says Michael Kenny, who shared photos with NBC10.

The firefighters had to improvise and use duct tape to help pull the birds to the surface, Kenny said.

Before long, the ducklings had been saved. Firefighter Tom Beck posed for a photo with one of the rescued birds.

The ducks were put in a cardboard box in the back of a police cruiser for safe keeping while the rescue continued. They all came out unscathed. Kenny believes police took them to a nearby animal shelter for care.
