Victory in Photos: Welcome Your New TD-Tossing Overlord

Well, well, well. Guess who looks better than ever, tossed three touchdown passes, and only ran four times? Michael Vick led the Eagles to a 28-3 win in Jacksonville.

Eagles fans, this is happening. Michael Vick accounted for all four touchdowns in his first game as permanent starter for the Eagles -- tossing three and running for one -- as Philly destroyed the Jags, 28-3. And, Vick looked better than ever doing so.

Vick looks toward fans chanting his name in the stands at Jacksonville. It looks as if his claims to be a new man included a new talent: staying in the pocket. No. 7 completed 17 of 31 passes for 291 yards -- for the most part staying put and slicing apart Jacksonville's terrible secondary. His 17-yard TD scramble was more than half of his 30 rushing yards.

Kevin Kolb's future may have been aborted by Vick's resurgence, but he was an awfully good sport, cheering on his teammates from the sidelines.

The Jags, of course, are unbelievably bad at football. Andy Reid's controversial QB switch looks like the right decision -- for now. "He played his heart out today, so it's more about him than me or anybody else," Reid said. "It's a tribute to what he's done and how he's handled things."

Vick's first TD toss went to DeSean Jackson, who strolled 61 yards for the first quarter score.

LeSean McCoy's a little teapot, short and stout. There is his handle, there is his spout. The Eagles running back poured out 54 yards on just 11 carries.

Darryl Tapp (yes, he actually suited up for this game) brings down fantasy darling Maurice Jones-Drew. The Jags RB was held to 88 yards on 22 carries as the Jags offense sputtered.

And we do mean sputtered. Jacksonville had just 184 total yards to the Eagles' 373.

At least they still do some things well. This is the prettiest thing Jags fans -- all 11 of them -- saw on the field all day.

Defensive end Trent Cole was a wild man sunday. Here the Pro Bowler slaps the ball out of the hand of Jags QB David Garrard. Of Jax's 184 yards on offense, just 54 were courtesy of the paltry passing game.

Which isn't to say the Eagles didn't have their own issues -- including allowing three more sacks. But with losses from the Redskins and Giants, they currently sit atop the NFC East and appear energized by Vick's so-far astonishing play.

The Jags sit atop nothing. "We have to figure out something ASAP," said MJD. "We're not doing anything right."

You can say that again. Trevor Laws celebrates after sacking David Garrard during the first half -- one of six sacks to complement eight passes deflected and 11 quarterback hits.

The Eagles improved to 2-1, and are 2-0 with Vick starting. "I understand the circumstances and the reason for all the talk," he said after the game. "It is a sigh of relief to move on and not talk about it anymore."

Of course, no NFL QB has ever returned from 21 months in prison for dogfighting, so we doubt we're quite done with all the talk just yet. Or ever.

But for now, it's Vickadelphia -- and up next? Donovan McNabb, at home, at the Linc. We imagine there'll be talk about that, too.

For his part Vick didn't want to talk about No. 5. “I'm not getting involved in that,” Vick said. “I'm not getting involved in Donovan McNabb-Mike Vick controversy.”
