A Southwest Philadelphia teenage boy's after school bike ride turned deadly Friday afternoon.
The boy was riding his bike down a hill with a friend around 3:30 p.m. on Elmwood Avenue. At the intersection of 58th Street he collided with a privately owned trash truck, according to police.
"It's just a tragedy," said neighbor Sandra Steward.
Police didn’t identify the boy who died in the street.
A boy who saw the crash described what happened.
"The bike just slid and he flipped off and started rolling into the street," said Nasir Brown.
Police were still investigating. As of Friday night no charges were filed against the driver.
