An 80 foot stretch of beach has eroded at the north end of North Wildwood. Some areas have a 5 to 6 foot drop off, according to North Wildwood Police, who tell NBC10's Ted Greenberg that Public Works has fenced off the area as a safety precaution.

Police say they aren't sure what caused the extensive erosion in that particular area and say they hope the sand will level back out during upcoming high tides.

No one was hurt.
