Police in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, are using new technology to help them catch individuals involved in carjackings.

There’s a new warning from Bensalem police after Philadelphia carjacking suspects were arrested in Bucks County. They say advances in technology are helping in the fight against car thefts and other crimes. NBC10’s Deanna Durante has the details.

Three individuals have been arrested in Bensalem Township after police said they were driving around in a vehicle that was stolen during an armed carjacking in Philadelphia earlier this week.

The Andalusia Bar & Grill was gutted by an early Thursday morning fire at Bensalem’s Grandview Plaza shopping center. NBC10’s Miguel Martinez-Valle reports on the blaze at what firefighters called “a staple in this community.”

Bensalem firefighters said that flames tore through The Andalusia Bar and Grill at a Bristol Pike strip mall early Thursday morning.

Police are looking for help from the public to identify a man who stole two air conditioners, a saw and a grinder and left a Bensalem Home Depot without paying for the items. He drove away from the scene in a Mercedes, officials said.

“If you commit a red light violation on June 1 and beyond, the vehicle’s owner will receive a civil violation in the mail for $100,” Bensalem Township police wrote.

For the past two months, drivers in Bensalem have received warnings about red lights. But starting Saturday, June 1, the 60-day grace period will end and red light camera violations will be enforced. NBC10’s Aaron Baskerville explains. 

One month after red light cameras were installed at two intersections. Bensalem Police said officers have issued over 5,200 warnings to vehicle owners for blowing red lights.

The borough launched its automated red light camera system last month, with only 2-cameras in place. One is at Knight and Street Road, and the other is at Route 1 and Old Lincoln Highway. 5,200 warning tickets were sent out to drivers in the first 30 days.

Police in Bensalem have made an arrest after a delivery driver claimed he was kidnapped, blindfolded and forced to withdraw money from ATMs throughout the region over the course of several hours in October.

Police say a 14-year-old is dead and two others were shot in Bensalem, Bucks County on Tuesday night. The shooting was a result of a fight that broke out around 7:30 p.m., according to police. NBC10’s Leah Uko has the latest details from the scene.
