The deadly blaze broke out around 2 a.m. at a rented home along Butler Pike at Township Line Road in Whitpain Township, Pennsylvania.

A man in his 50s, who lived in the home with three other people, died, Whitpain Township Fire Marshal David Camarda said. The fire appeared to have begun in a corner master bedroom of the ranch home.

The other people living in the stone home weren’t home at the time. "The other individuals were out for the evening," Camarda said.

A smoke alarm could be heard going off when firefighters arrived, investigators said.
