Drivers parking in Philadelphia bike lanes beware… the PPA is targeting you.

Despite Mayor Kenney’s plans, Philadelphia has built less than ten miles of protected bike lanes, discouraging some bicyclists from cruising into work. NBC10 Investigative Reporter Claudia Vargas examines why.

A repaving plan to make South Philadelphia’s busy Washington Avenue safer for cyclists and pedestrians is set to begin next year. The plan comes after the city asked for input from residents, businesses and community organizations and received more than 5,400 responses.

Major changes are on the way for a busy street in South Philadelphia. The city released the plan for Washington Avenue, which will include adding two protective bike lanes and reducing driving lanes from five to three.

After four bicyclists were killed in accidents in our area, a group worked to raise money and awareness for bike safety. NBC10’s Brandon Hudson has the details.
