Artists from all over the country will be showcasing their creations at the 22nd annual Manayunk Arts Festival on Saturday, June 25 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday, June 26 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Festival will be revealing two public art installations in partnership with the Mural Arts Program. Cira Centre at Twilight n Charles Cushing is a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and has more than 400 of his original oil paintings on display in public and private galleries. He is known for his large cityscape paintings of Philadelphia and maintains a revolving display of original paintings by himself and other artists in the lobby of the 2 Penn Center building at 15th and JFK.
Homeland n Daniel Nie is a Shanghai native based out of Washington, D.C. He has developed his own style of art he calls "Yi-impression." He developed it while teaching art classes at various colleges.
Heart of Hearts nElan Smadar is an Israeli-born artist who is based out of Owings Mills, Md. and centers her work around the joy that she sees in everyday life.
Olga Octopus n Rosalie Sherman began her career sculpting site-specific pieces, which are currently on display in parks throughout Pennsylvania and in Boston, Florida and Oregon. More recently, she began creating affordable sculptures for the home from her studio in Philadelphia.
Parkway n Joe Barker has been painting the Philadelphia landscape for over 20 years and began his career as an artist by selling his paintings on the streets of Philadelphia. His work now hangs on the walls of every room in the Rittenhouse Hotel and other major Philadelphia landmarks.
Joyce Hughes n Joyce Hughes is a self-taught quilter and fiber artist who teaches and lectures about her techniques and designs that are incorporated into her one-of-a-kind handbags.
Philamina n Sandra Webberking is a local metal artist whose work aims to promote biking, local artists and local businesses and is displayed throughout the area.
