Flyers 09/10 Schedule Full of Fun

The NHL’s 2009-2010 regular season schedule came out on Wednesday and it looks like another interesting year for the Fly Guys.
The orange and black start the season in Carolina on October 2 then travel to New Jersey to play the Devils on October 3. The Flyers return to the Wachovia Center on October 6 for their home opener against Hart Trophy winner Alex Ovechkin, and the Washington Capitols.
Two days later, the real fun begins on October 8 when (cringe) Sidney Crosby and the (cringe harder) Stanley-Cup-champion Penguins (punch wall) come into town.
The Flyers play the hated Penguins six times (three home, three away) this season. The rivalry could really heat up in the middle of the winter when the Flyers play Pittsburgh home and away on December 15 and 17.
But the date circled on all Flyers’ fans calendars is New Years Day. That's when the orange and black head up to Boston to play the Bruins -- outside -- at Fenway Park -- for the fourth ever Winter Classic.
But if you’re not one of the 40,000 or so people to get tickets to the Winter Classic, you can count on NBC to provide full coverage.
Like seasons past, the NHL will also not break this year for an All-Star game. Rather players will return represent their native countries to play in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics (also on NBC) from February 14 to March 2.
The Flyers will also head to the left coast in November to play to L.A., San Jose, Phoenix and Colorado.
The Flyers close their regular season against the Rangers on April 11.
Then the real season -- the playoffs -- will begin.
