2019 NHL Draft Profile: Raphael Lavoie's QMJHL Playoff Run Has Everyone's Attention

The 2019 NHL entry draft is Friday and Saturday in Vancouver, British Columbia. General manager Chuck Fletcher, assistant general manager Brent Flahr and the Flyers hold the 11th overall pick and eight selections in total.

"This draft's a little unique," Flahr said last week. "Especially in the top 15, there are a number of different types of players, which is interesting - some power wingers, some smaller scoring wingers, some centermen, there's a number of D, a goaltender.

"We've identified probably five or six guys that we think have a chance to be there at 11 and probably some of the other teams in front of us will dictate that. But we're really confident we're going to get a good player."

This week, we are breaking down options for the Flyers at No. 11.

How good can Lavoie be when it's all clicking? Just look at his run through the QMJHL playoffs.

Lavoie took his game to another level, scoring 20 goals in 23 postseason games after netting 32 in 62 regular-season games for the Mooseheads.

According to NHL Central Scouting, the 6-foot-4, 199-pound Lavoie models his game after Ryan Getzlaf, who is 6-foot-4, 225 pounds.

"He's a goal-scorer, bigger body," Flahr said. "Needs to round out his game a little bit, he had some consistency issues maybe. But he was really good in the playoffs when it matters most. He shouldn't have to wait long."

Here's a little taste of Lavoie's skill and ability:

Fit with Flyers

Fletcher has noted size a decent number of times this offseason. Lavoie is not lacking in that area and his positional versatility is a nice draw to NHL teams.

While his production during the playoffs boosted his stock, teams will look at the whole package. NHL Central Scouting has Lavoie rated as the 20th-best North American skater, while TSN's Craig Button ranked him as the 17th-best player in the entire draft.

He's expected to be available for the Flyers at No. 11 overall and the club is always looking for natural goal-scorers.
