Woman Found Unconscious in Park May Have Been Overly Medicated

A woman who was found unconscious in a park in the Cobbs Creek section of the city may not have been assaulted as police initially suspected.

Police say the woman was found in a wooded area Tuesday around 3:30 p.m. in Cobbs Creek Park near Hazel Avenue. A source close to the investigation says a passerby found the woman, who was only partially clothed.

The woman was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where she was listed in critical condition. On Wednesday, the woman regained consciousness and spoke with police.

Investigators initially suspected the woman was indecently assaulted. After speaking with her however, they now suspect she was overly medicated which caused her to pass out in the park.

Police continue to investigate.
