The Jenkintown Police Department is mourning the loss of one of their own.

Sargent Rick Carson died last Tuesday following a lengthy battle with cancer, Jenkintown Borough officials say.

A graduate of Jenkintown High School, Sgt. Carson spent 18-years on the Jenkintown Police force and was also a member of the Independent Fire Company and Pioneer Fire Company.

In a statement on their website, borough officials called Sgt. Carson a “true community policeman” adding that he will be “deeply missed.”

Sgt. Carson is survived by a wife and daughter.
