Two adults and a toddler have died after a minivan hit a tree stump and was catapulted, roof-first, into a tree in western Pennsylvania, possibly after the driver fell asleep.
State police from Butler have identified the dead victims as 31-year-old Kimberly McLaughlin, who was driving, along with 42-year-old Terry Cramer Jr. and his son, 3-year-old Terry Cramer III.
All three were from Coraopolis, a suburb about 10 miles west of Pittsburgh, and some 40 miles south of where the crash occurred in Brady Township, Butler County.
Police say the crash occurred about 6:10 p.m. Wednesday.
Two other children in the car, 11-year-old Stephanie Pounds and 1-year-old Emily McLaughlin, were flown to a Pittsburgh hospital and were expected to survive. They are McLaughlin's children.
