Man Dies, Teen Shot on Porch

A man died, another man was hurt and a teenager was injured when they were all shot as they stood on a porch.

Philadelphia Police are investigating a triple shooting along the 4900 block of W Thompson Street in West Philadelphia Thursday night just before 8 p.m.

Police say a gunman fired off about one dozen rounds at a group of people gathered on the front porch of a row home.

"You have a male just walking up on this corner casually, knowing he has three people trapped on that porch, there's nowhere for them to go other than the house and just opens fire on them," said Lt. John Walker, Philadelphia Police.

After being in crtical condition, a 21-year-old victim died overnight from gunshot wounds to the chest. A 15-year-old boy was shot in the back while a 22 year-old man was hit in the leg. They remained in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Friday morning.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance video from a nearby store to try and track down the gunman.

"This person is brazen. Obviously it's probably going to come down to some stupid argument that happened at some point. It's just uncalled for violence and these people just need to resolve their conflicts in other ways," said Lt. Walker.

There was another deadly shooting overnight in the city. A 22-year-old man was shot three times in the chest at 29th and Oakdale Streets in North Philly around midnight. The unidentified man died a short time later at the hospital.
