Just two weeks after Michael Jackson's sudden death, chilling reports concerning the singer's drug consumption are surfacing.

CNN obtained a confidential document from 2004, which claimed Jackson was known to take more than 10 Xanax pills per night. The singer allegedly asked his employees to seek out prescriptions in their own names in order to obtain more drugs. The reports also claims that the singer would travel to out of state doctors for more pills.

On Thursday, Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton said police are looking into a number of doctors who provided care for Jackson over the years and are investigating his prescription drug history.

According to a source close to the Jackson family, they are aware the investigation into the cause of Jackson's death could turn into a criminal case.

"The family is aware of a potential criminal prosecution," the source said.

CNN's chief medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta was surprised by the alleged amount of Xanax, which is meant for the treatment of panic disorders.

"No matter how you cut it, this is an extremely high dosage of Xanax," Gupta said. "It is a huge red flag, even with the tolerance that I was talking about. This dosage is exceedingly high for any human being."
