Celeb Twitter accounts were hacked yet again over the weekend, this time targeting pop singer Britney Spears and talk show comedian Ellen DeGeneres.

The unidentified pranksters broke into both Spears' and DeGeneres' Twitpic accounts and blasted out fake messages, including one outlandish claim that Spears was dead, according to MTV.

"Britney has passed today," one of the forged messages read. "It is a sad day for everyone. More news to come."

Twitpic, a Web-based messaging system that is not owned by Twitter, allows users to tack on photos to their Tweets. Twitpic shut down their services temporarily on Sunday after discovering what online company called a “vulnerability” in its mobile posting service.

In a note to users, Twitpic said to disregard the false message about Spears’ alleged death. The service promised to fix the glitch immediately.

Pranksters have preyed on Spears before. Back in January, her Twitter account was logged into, and messages were sent out declaring that her vagina was four feet wide "with razor sharp teeth."

Spears' camp responded to the recent hack by posting a follow-up message on the microblogging site reassuring followers and fans that the pop star is alive and well.

"Britney's Twitter was just hacked," the post reads. "The last message was obviously not true. She is fine and dandy spending a quiet day at home relaxing."
