A wintry mix ushered in a cold blast this morning.

Temps dropped as rain turned to snow starting in the north and west before moving eastward.

NBC10 First Alert meteorologists say frigid temperatures are expected to sweep across Pennsylvania then New Jersey as a cold front moves through the region.

By 5 a.m. snow was falling in the Pocono Mountains.

Light rain showers are expected to turn to snow inland while the Jersey Shore should see a mix of rain and snow on Tuesday. It could change to all snow before the precipitation ends.

First Alert meteorologist Bill Henley says accumulations should be mainly a coating or less and limited to grassy areas and car tops.

Temperatures in the 50s continue to drop into the 30s throughout the day with gusty northerly winds making it feel like it's in the 20s.

NBC10 First Alert Weather meteorologist Bill Henley said that by the late afternoon we could even see some breaks of sun but the cold and windy weather will stick around into Wednesday.

SEPTA also warned commuters of possible delays due to slippery rail conditions.
