Suspect Shoots, Kills Friend While Adjusting Gun in Underwear

Pittsburgh police said a man claimed he was adjusting a gun he kept in his underwear when it went off in a car, killing another passenger.

Online court records don't list an attorney for Eietyoung Kemp, who was jailed Friday on charges including criminal homicide and carrying a firearm without a license in the death of 19-year-old Robert Alston.

Police say Kemp, who is also 19, told them he was riding to a party with Alston and two other friends about 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Kemp was in the back seat and was adjusting the gun when it fired through the front seat, hitting Alston.

Police say Kemp told them he panicked, ran away and threw the gun in the Allegheny River.

He surrendered to police Thursday.
