Despite finishing 8-8 last season and being on the road, our team of crack NFL-picking experts here at NBC10 can’t seem to find a way to pick against our Birds. Every NBC10er picking this week sees an Eagles win in their first game of the season -- some picking the Birds to soar to a big victory.
“Look for LeSean McCoy to have a big day,” said photojournalist Rich Notaro. “And the Eagles defense should be more than (rookie) Browns QB Brandon Weeden and their offensive line can handle. Look for an early season rout as the Birds trounce Cleveland 37-10.”
Reporter Tim Furlong isn’t so confident in a big offensive day for the Birds: “I'm going Eagles 14-7. The Browns have a rookie quarterback and we are going to scare the heck out of him early. The Eagles will win but on Monday we will still talk about the birds overall lack of offensive productivity.”
Our Birds Nest bloggers see more offensive firepower from Michael Vick and company.
“27-21 Eagles. Sloppy game for the Birds, but they will come out on top thanks to a few big plays,” says Brian Solomon. “I'm looking for DeSean Jackson to have a great opening day.”
I agree on the D-Jax front but I see a better effort from the defense as the Eagles cruise on Opening Day over a far inferior opponent much like they did against the Rams on the road last season. Eagles 29, Browns 14.
But blogger Ryan Wilson seems most confident in the Birds: "Eagles, 31-6. The Browns continue to be one of the worst teams in the league and Trent Richardson and Weeden won't magically fix that -- at least not this Sunday."
