Woman Killed by Another Car After Hitting Deer

State police say a western Pennsylvania woman has been fatally struck by a pickup truck after she hit a deer then got out of her vehicle to warn other motorists to slow down.

Troopers from the Bedford barracks say the driver of the other vehicle swerved, but couldn't avoid hitting 57-year-old Glenda Riley, shortly after 10 p.m. Monday.

Police say the Everett woman was on Route 220 north of Bedford when her vehicle hit the deer. As others in her car tried to remove the animal's carcass from the road, Riley stood in the road flagging down other motorists to slow down.

The other driver, a 48-year-old man from Manns Choice, told police he tried to slow down, but couldn't stop before hitting Riley. Police haven't charged that man.
