Wave Runner Rider Rescued After Boat Crash

The Coast Guard pulled a man from the water after his personal water craft was rear-ended by a boat, according to investigators

The Coast Guard pulled a man from the water after his personal water craft was rear-ended by a boat in the waters off Egg Harbor Township, according to investigators.

The accident happened near Cooper Bridge.

NBC10 Jersey Shore Reporter Ted Greenberg was on the scene and got exclusive video of the Coast Guard bringing the victim in to Somers Point Marina.

According to Levon Clayton, the Chief of the Longport Volunteer Fire Department, the boat was following close behind the personal water craft, when the PWC slowed down or stopped. The boat rear-ended the PWC.

"He was found in the water along with one of the other gentlemen from the boat that was following him, holding him up," Clayton told Greenberg.

The rider was hurt. He was conscious and talking when rescuers got to him. His injuries were to the lower part of his body, Clayton said. They don't appear to be life-threatening. The victim was taken to Shore Medical Center.

The Marine Division of the New Jersey State Police and the Coast Guard are investigating.
