Stockton Faculty Vote No-Confidence on Outgoing President

The faculty of Stockton University has voted no confidence in the school's outgoing president.

The Press of Atlantic City says the vote was held over a three-day period last week. While the vote was ongoing, Herman Saatkamp announced he would resign later this year.

More than 80 percent of the 298 faculty members who voted supported some level of condemnation of Saatkamp, though only 33 percent approved the resolution to also ask for his resignation. The voters also demanded that the faculty get two seats on the school's Board of Trustees.

Saatkamp's plan to transform the shuttered Showboat casino in Atlantic City casino into a satellite campus for the suburban college has been stuck in legal limbo. Stockton bought the casino for $18 million last December from Caesars Entertainment.

A college spokeswoman said Saatkamp wouldn't comment on the votes.
