Philadelphia-Based Carpooling App Raises $10 Million

After raising $10 million and partnering with Bono, a Philadelphia-based carpooling app is eying the city as a future site for its new service.

Founded in Philadelphia, Ride has its c-suite in the city, its product team is in New York, and has been beta testing on the West Coast. It plans to hit Atlanta's B2C market in September.

Georgia's capital city was the pick for the launch because its high-traffic congestion will give Ride a better idea of its market value, said Kelly Behrend, Ride's director of strategy and operations.

While the service is not yet available in Philly, Behrend said that could change shortly.
