In Death Pa. Soldier Reunites With Best Friend

Brendan Looney, a Navy SEAL, was devastated at the death of his best friend and roommate from the Naval Academy.

Three years later he is being reunited with his friend in death.

Twenty-six-year-old Marine Lt. Travis Manion of Doylestown, Pa., was killed in Iraq in 2007. On Sept. 21, Looney, 29, of Owings Mills, Md., died in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.

Manion, who was buried at Calvary Cemetery in West Conshohocken, Pa. was reinterred Friday at Arlington National Cemetery. Looney will be buried on Monday, next to his best friend.

Manion’s family knew of his desire to be buried at Arlington but it was a tough decision, his father Tom told the Morning Call.

Only after learning about Looney’s death did the Manion family decide to make is happen.

Looney's wife, parents and siblings attended Friday's service, where they held hands with Manion's family.
