A Bucks County man has been charged with shooting his roommate to death during a fight over a fast food bag left on a couch, prosecutors announced Sunday.
Gregory Hylton, 40, is charged with criminal homicide and possession of an instrument of crime in the killing of 25-year-old Sharif Simpson in their Bensalem apartment, the Bucks County District Attorney's Office said.
Hylton told police that the Saturday night fight at their Creekside Apartments apartment on the 2500 block of Knights Road started when he was sitting on his couch and called Simpson a "pig" for leaving a bag of fast food on the couch, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
Simpson was standing in the doorway to his bedroom when they started arguing over the "pig" comment, Hylton told police. Hylton got up and pushed Simpson into the room, where Simpson fell on the bed and both men started wrestling, the criminal complaint says.
Hylton then pulled out his registered 9 mm handgun from his waistband and used the muzzle to repeatedly hit Simpson on the shoulder, the affidavit says he told police.
Both men started choking each other, at which point Hylton shot Simpson, the affidavit says.
Hylton called 911 and attempted CPR on Simpson, Bensalem police said.
