An accident involving five teenagers killed two in Montgomery County.
Police said the accident happened at 1:15 a.m. at Norristown and Witmer Roads in Horsham.
A 2007 Honda Civic carrying five teens left the roadway there and went airborne, police said. The vehicle came to rest in the backyard of a house at 600 Wade Avenue.
Authorities report that two of the teenagers inside the vehicle died. Emergency medical services transported the remaining three crash victims to Abington Hospital.
On Saturday morning, authorities released the names of the teens in the crash. The fatal victims were Robert Walker Nagle, 19, of Ambler, and Edward Taylor Coombs, 19, of Horsham.
The surviving victims were Connor James McNicholas, 19, of Ambler, Darryl Neville Jr., 18, of Darby, and Timothy Kurpiel, 19, of Horsham.
After an initial investigation, police said that McNicholas was behind the wheel at the time of the crash. Police said that the Civic left the roadway and struck a curb, but kept going, crossing over Wade Avenue. The car continued through a yard there, striking several trees before finally coming to a stop at a larger tree, 405 feet away from where it initially left the road.
"That's pretty much what stopped them," said Joe Foulke who was woken up by the sound of the car skidding across his yard. "It was a low hanging branch and it was just about the height of the wind shield."
According to police, one of the passengers told them the speedometer in the car was up to 99 mph before the crash. Law enforcement said all of the teenagers had been at a party where beer and mixed drinks were present.
Investigators are looking at both speed and alcohol as factors in the crash though its unconfirmed if either played a role.
