Two Philadelphia Police officers -- both with more than two dozen years of experience on the force -- found themselves on the wrong side of the law accused of stealing gas, electricity and water.
Lt. Aisha Perry, 53, and Officer George Suarez, 54, were arrested for the alleged theft of services from city utilities including PGW, PECO and the water department, Philadelphia Police announced Tuesday.
On Wednesday, District Attorney Seth Williams' Office said that the duo is accused of tampering with utility meters at several properties they owned together.
Perry, a 31-year-veteran of the police force assigned to the 39th District, and Suarez, a 25-year vet assigned to the 14th District, were charged with theft, conspiracy and risking a catastrophe, according to court records.
They were arraigned and free on 10 percent of $5,000 bail ahead of a preliminary hearing on Sept. 17.
Police didn’t reveal how they uncovered the alleged crimes.
Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey plans to fire both cops after suspending Perry and Suarez for 30 days.
