As NBC10 and Telemundo62 work with local animal shelters to #ClearTheShelters on Aug. 15, you can get ready by checking out the exclusive “Kitty Kam” for the event.
The “Kitty Kam” shows off some of the adorable animals up for adoption at the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society’s Grant Avenue location.
"There's no telling what you may see on the camera," said PAWS executive director Melissa Levy. "But it's hopefully going to be a little peek into their happy life at PAWS."
Breaking news and the stories that matter to your neighborhood.
PAWS creates room where the cats can feel comfortable and have fun as they await for a loving permanent home.
"We have wheels for them to run on and things for them to climb on and boxes for them to snuggle up in," said Levy.
The wheel -- "it's like a huge hamster wheel" that some cats completely ignore while others run on it "like a cheetah" -- draws a crowd of people inside and outside the shelter, said Levy.
PAWS, like many of the shelters that have pets up for adoption on #ClearTheShelters Day, has a feline for everyone.
"If an adopter wants a really playful, frisky cat, we know who fits the bill, and if somebody just wants a cat to snuggle up with them on the couch we know who (that cat) is too," said Levy.
Levy had a message for people that may watch the cats but aren't sure about adoption.
"If your attention is piqued, just come on in," said Levy.
PAWS’ Northeast Philadelphia center is located at 1810 Grant Avenue and is open seven days a week. If you visit the shelter on Saturday, you can adopt a pet without paying some of the normal fees so help NBC10 and Telemundo62 #ClearTheShelters.
