A driver died after her car rammed into the back of a transit bus this morning.
The crash shutdown part of East Lincoln Highway (Business U.S. Route 30) near Caln Road in Caln Township, Chester County, Pa. just before 7 a.m.
Caln Township Police Chief Joseph Elias identified the driver as Kathleen Volpe-Cignatta, 56 of Royersford, Pa. Volpe-Cignatta crashed her care into the rear of the bus, according to a preliminary investigation.
SkyForce10 captured the aftermath. It appeared that the silver Nissan sedan rear-ended the transit bus and became lodged under the bumper.
Police remained on the scene investigating the cause of the wreck as the road was closed for about 2-1/2 hours.

Elias said that a preliminary investigation showed that both the car and bus were driving along Route 30 towards Coatesville, Pa. when the car struck the bus. The two vehicles continued for about 100 yards until the bus driver was able to guide the bus -- with the car lodged under the bumper -- over to the shoulder, Elias said.

Volpe-Cignatta died at the scene, according to police.
About six passengers and the driver were on the Krapf's transit bus at the time of the crash. No one on board was hurt, according to police.
Krapf's operates buses as part of the Transportation Management Association of Chester County.
