Gator Gets Loose at NJ Post Office

Workers at Trenton sorting facility find alligator inside express mail package

An alligator got loose Friday morning in a postal sorting facility in Trenton, N.J.

The gator escaped from an express mail package inside the post office on U.S. Route 130 near Klockner Road, according to the U.S. Postal Inspectors Office in Newark.

The12-inch long reptile got out inside a large sorting bin and was was found a short time later by postal workers.

Neither the postal workers nor the gator were hurt.

No word given on where the gator came from or where it was going.

Postal inspectors say it's not illegal to ship a gator that is under 18 inches.

NBC10 is working to obtain a photo of the animal.
