Postal Worker Injured After Bottle Bomb Explodes

Two separate incidents are being investigated.

Three bottle bombs were found strapped to a doll in Bushkill Township on Monday, just days after a U.S. Postal Service worker in the same town suffered chemical burns related to a soda-bottle bomb, the Express-Times reports.

Police tell the newspaper that three soda bottle bombs were found strapped to a doll near Muschlitz and West Douglasville Roads around 7:30 a.m. Monday. Two of the bottles had already exploded -- police dismantled the third.

Monday’s discovery comes just three days after 49-year-old postal worker Patricia Matolyak fell victim to a similar bottle bomb while delivering mail in the 300 block of Sexton Road last Thursday morning, the newspaper reports.

According to police, the bomb explosion left Matolyak with a red chin and white burn spots on her arms, the Express-Times reports.

Matolyak been given prescriptions from her doctor, but still feels discomfort. Her husband is offering a $500 reward for information that leads to a conviction.

Anyone with information on either incident should call police Bushkill Police at 610-759-9588.
