Man Struck by Stray Bullet While Playing Video Games

A scary moment Monday night for a man playing video games in his house -- police say a stray bullet struck the man as he played Xbox.

The victim, who turned 27 on Sunday, told officers he was playing an Xbox upstairs in a home on the 100 block of West Sparks Street in the Olney section of the city around 8 p.m. when a bullet suddenly entered the home and struck him in the shoulder.

"Medics took him to Einstein Hospital where he was placed in stable condition," said police Chief Inspector Scott Small.

The victim told police it felt like he was "struck in the back with a hammer," said Small.

"We believe that the stray bullet came from about a block away," said Small.

Police say they found two cars about a block away from the victim’s home with bullet holes in the windows.

"Tragically he was an innocent victim struck by a stray bullet," said Small.

No arrests were made. Police did not release details on any suspects nor possible intended targets.
