The defense has requested that a preliminary hearing be postponed for a University of Pittsburgh researcher jailed on charges he fatally poisoning his neurologist wife with cyanide.
The attorney for 64-year-old Robert Ferrante indicated he needed more time to prepare for the hearing, which was moved from Sept. 23 to Oct. 22 by a judge's order on Thursday.
Ferrante is accused of spiking an energy drink with the fast-acting poison, killing Dr. Autumn Klein in April. She was 41.
Ferrante's attorney says the doctor denies any involvement in his wife's death and remains “devastated” by her loss.
