Sept. 6, 2011: Humane Law Enforcement Officers from the Pennsylvania SPCA made a gruesome discovery in a lot in the 700 block of E. Westmoreland Street (adjacent to Ascension of Our Lord Church and School) in Philadelphia after receiving an anonymous tip. There, officers found the corpse of a five-month-old puppy encapsulated in duct tape.

Officers from the Pennsylvania SPCA made a gruesome find in the Kensington section of the city:  a dead pit bull-mix puppy, wrapped in duct tape.

The officers were acting on an anonymous tip on Tuesday and found the 5-month old dog in a lot next to the Ascension of Our Lord Church and School on East Westmoreland Street.

A necropsy was performed on the dead dog.  Results showed the animal had multiple health problems and suffered from a lack of medical care.

“This is a bizarre and extremely disturbing case of animal cruelty, and no animal should have to suffer this way,” said George Bengal, director of humane law enforcement for the Pennsylvania SPCA.

A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to whoever is behind the act of animal cruelty.

Anyone with information can call the Pennsylvania SPCA's hot line at 1-866-601-SPCA (7722).
