Coroner to Determine How Man Found on Road Died

An autopsy was set on the body of a 53-year-old man found on the road of a Pennsylvania suburb.

Carnegie police say the man may have been hit by a car or fallen down a Pittsburgh hillside before a passing motorist spotted his body about 12:30 a.m. Friday. He died in a hospital two hours later and police say he had severe head and chest injuries, but wasn't shot or stabbed.

Police know who the man is, but weren't immediately releasing his name while they tried to contact his family. Police say he formerly lived in neighboring Scott Township, but had been living at an extended-stay hotel in Carnegie since November.

Police Sgt. Jeffrey Kennedy calls the case “a strange one. We're hoping the autopsy will give us a better idea.”
