Change of Heart: Thieves Who Stole Lion Statue in West Chester Return It With Flowers and Card

Two thieves who stole a statue of a lion at a West Chester home had a change of heart after police posted surveillance video of the heist.

Two thieves who stole a lion statue in West Chester had a change of heart Sunday night.

On Friday, the West Chester Borough Police Department posted a surveillance video of the two thieves who broke into a fenced-in yard in West Chester on Wednesday.

But the intruders were not after money or jewelry, they wanted to steal a statue of a lion on the ownerโ€™s porch.

It took the thieves two tries before they successfully lugged the statue down the street together.

โ€œIf you are watching and saying 'Wow thatโ€™s us,' no you are not movie stars, and should probably stop by and visit us......,โ€ a police spokesperson wrote.

Two days after police posted their video, the supposed same thieves decided to return the lion statue.

They also left a bouquet of flowers and a card on the ownerโ€™s porch.

โ€œWe thank everyone who shared the video and to the two fellas, smart move to return the property,โ€ the police said in a post.

The police reported that the owner was grateful the lion statue was returned.
