Verdict Expected Next Week in 1984 Rape and Murder of Pennsylvania Teen Girl

A judge says he'll decide next week whether a Florida man is guilty in the rape and slaying of a 14-year-old Pennsylvania girl more than three decades ago.

Bucks County Judge Wallace Bateman Jr. heard six days of testimony before closing arguments in the case Tuesday. Bateman says he needs to review testimony transcripts and the law before delivering his verdict Monday in the trial of 57-year-old George Shaw, of Geneva.

Prosecutors say he drugged and suffocated Barbara Rowan in Bensalem in August 1984, then dumped her body along a highway with the help of a friend. That man, 53-year-old Robert Sanders, testified against Shaw and is awaiting sentencing on a guilty plea to hindering apprehension by giving police bad information.

Defense attorney Louis Busico argued Sanders isn't credible.
