1 Dies, 2 Hurt as SUV Crashes Into Pole, Fence Outside Philly Police Garage

The vehicle crashed into the fence outside the major crimes police yard on Macalester Street and Whitaker Avenue in the Juniata section of the city leaving the driver dead and 2 people critically hurt.

A man died and two young men were hurt as an SUV slammed into a utility pole and the fence outside of a Philadelphia police parking lot and garage Monday night.

The Honda SUV jumped the curb then wrapped around a PECO pole outside the police department's major crimes investigation unit garage on Macalester Street and Whitaker Avenue in the Juniata section of the city just before 11 p.m.

The 39-year-old driver died at the scene. An 18-year-old front seat passenger was thrown from the SUV while a 21-year had to be cut out of the wreckage, police said.
