Rebel Yell: Despite the occasional comparisons, Jersey's Screaming Females are a far cry from Sleater-Kinney (for a far more worthy comparison, you might want to check out the Wild Flag show at UT on the 18th), but that's not to say they don't rock out pretty hard. Pow! Kazam!: Sure it doesn't have the megawattage of San Diego's Comic-Con, but the Garden State Comic Con is the largest toy and comic expo in Jersey, which is still saying something. The joint will be jumping with toy and comic vendors and special guest appearances by cultish figures such as Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis and Hayden Panettiere, and tons of dudes in Chewbacca costumes.$6 9:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m

lIvE aT tHe iMpRoV: Rhythmic stylists tUnE-yArDs, primarily Merrill Garbus and whomever she wants to play with on a given tour, add an element of improv with their shows, creating on-the-spot drum loops and layering other musical bits and pieces on top to create a kind of organic musical form. They perform tonight at Union Transfer. $15 8:00 p.m.
