Making the Ghouls at Eastern State

Horror can take many forms, as can the horrible. For the world-famous Terror Behind the Walls experience at the Eastern State Penitentiary, head makeup artist Ruby Muro knows a lot about what makes a ghoul perfectly ghastly: bone structure. This helps explain why so many of her foul creations feature rotting flesh and exposed teeth. She also has a few more tricks up her bloody sleeves, though, from silicon half-masks, to fake spider veins.

Unsurprisingly, most of her ideas bubble up from her childhood—perhaps the time we are most vulnerable to our imaginations. But that's not to say she can't scare the holy hell out of the many adults who flock to TBTW.
