A fire caused damage to a Poconos-area fire department early this morning.
Firefighters in Schuylkill County were called to an unoccupied home in Mount Carbon just before 4:30 a.m. Friday.
They said the flames spread to a neighboring home and part of the building then collapsed onto the adjacent headquarters of the Mount Carbon Fire Co. headquarters.
Officials said the roof was damaged and firefighters got the vehicles parked inside out, but flames then engulfed the back of the building.
Crews from the department and surrounding communities worked into the morning to bring the fire under control.
Officials said one firefighter was taken to a hospital for treatment. Both homes were destroyed. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
