An education commissioner has overturned the firing of a high school athletic director who was caught on camera putting dog waste on his ex-wife's car.

The Haddon Township Board of Education previously stripped Alan Carr and an administrative law judge upheld the ruling.

But New Jersey Department of Education Commissioner Christopher Cerf said in a ruling May 15 that though his actions were “reprehensible,” he did not deserve to be fired. He said he should give up 120 days of pay and be suspended for an additional six months without pay.

The decision was first reported Friday by the Courier-Post.
