Temperatures in Cities Across Region Hit Record Highs

Record warmth has hit the region, and it isn’t going away quite yet.

Temperatures climbed into the 80s again Tuesday, and several locations saw record breaking afternoon high temperatures:

- Allentown set a new record of 84 degrees. The previous record was set in 1963 at 81 degrees.

- In Wilmington, Delaware, temperatures climbed to 82 degrees, setting a record. Previously, the record was 81 set in 1938.

- Trenton also hit a new record of 83 degrees. The previous record was set all the way back in 1908. It was 82 degrees.

- Philadelphia did not hit a record Tuesday when the temperature reached 84, but it was a close miss. The previous record was 85 degrees, also set in 1908.

Wednesday looks to be another record-breaking day for much of the area.

Philadelphia, Allentown, and Wilmington should set records, and Trenton is forecast to tie the current record.  Philadelphia’s record is 80 degrees Wednesday, and the forecast calls for a high of 85.

Temperatures will drop beginning Thursday, as cooler air moves into the region and chances of rain return to the Delaware Valley.
