A subway suspension and a bus accident slowed the rush hour commute in downtown Philadelphia Friday afternoon.
Service on the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority's (SEPTA) Market-Frankford subway line was suspended Friday afternoon from 15th Street to Spring Garden due to a suspicious package found on the tracks at the 5th Street station.
SEPTA said the Philadelphia Police bomb squad was called to the station, near Independence Mall and the Liberty Bell. Shuttle buses replaced subway service for a time.
At 4:50 p.m. SEPTA tweeted that the situation was cleared.

Meanwhile, a collision involving a commuter bus and a Megabus snarled traffic near City Hall. SEPTA said the Megabus struck the left side of the commuter bus as the vehicles were turning from Market Street onto 15th Street around 4 p.m.
SEPTA said three commuter bus passengers reported minor injuries.
