Deadly Head-on Crash Shuts Down Street Road in Bensalem for Hours

A head-on crash involving a tractor-trailer along a Bucks County road left a man dead and the road closed for more than five hours.

The wreck happened shortly after 7 a.m. Monday at Street Road and State Road in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.

An initial Pennsylvania State Police investigation reveled the big rig was turning left from State Road onto westbound Street Road when a Honda Civic going southbound on State Road crashed head on into the tractor-trailer.

Medics announced the Civic's driver -- 23-year-old Michael Baronofsky of Croydon, Pennsylvania -- dead at the scene.

As SkyForce10 hovered overhead you could see police investigating the scene.

The flat-bed big rig remained on the scene and the unidentified driver, who wasn't injured, cooperated with investigators, said police.

Police closed the road until after noon as they investigated.

Drugs and alcohol didn't appear to have a role in the crash, said police.
