A South Jersey man is facing animal cruelty charges after investigators say two puppies he left in a car for several hours while he went to work died.
Kevin Conquest, of Sicklerville, is facing charges of leaving a living creature unattended in a vehicle under inhumane conditions; failure to provide a living creature with necessary care and causing the death of a living creature.
On July 4, the Mount Laurel Police Department alerted the Burlington County SPCA Humane Police of a report of two dogs left in a vehicle for approximately four hours.
When the Burlington County Humane Police arrived, they say two puppies were found in an airline crate already deceased and showing signs of the cause of death due to the heat.
According to investigators, Conquest took his two puppies -- a four-month-old Husky named Zero and a four-month-old Golden Retriever named Simba -- to work with him and left them in the crate inside his car for several hours.
When Conquest returned to his car, investigators say the puppies were reportedly already deceased.
He has a court date scheduled for August 5.
