Suspended Lobbyist Free on Bail After Arrest for Alleged Sexual Assault in Philadelphia

Philadelphia Police arrested a Pennsylvania lobbyist Saturday after he allegedly raped a woman inside a Center City high-rise.

On Monday, Philadelphia Police released an arrest photo of Andrew "A.J." Marsico as his employer announced that the Harrisburg lobbyist was placed on administrative leave.

Over the weekend, allegations by a 27-year-old woman came to light. The victim told police that Marsico assaulted her at the Hyatt at the Bellevue on the 200 block of South Broad Street back on August 21.

Officers arrested Marsico at his apartment on the 1400 block of South Penn Square. Marsico, a senior associate with Pennsylvania government affairs firm Greenlee Partners, faces charges including indecent assault, aggravated indecent assault, unlawful restraint, simple assault and other related offenses, according to court records.

"Effective immediately, we have placed Mr. Marsico on administrative leave from the firm," read a statement from Greenlee partners. "These allegations are inconsistent with the values of our firm, and we believe this move is best for all parties at this time. The court system is the appropriate venue to address these allegations. Therefore, we believe it is inappropriate to comment further at this time. As we move forward, our thoughts are with the families involved."

Marsico maintains his innocence, said his attorney, Fortunato Perri Jr.

Marsico is the husband of 6ABC Action News reporter Annie McCormick. He is also the younger brother of Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico Jr. and cousin of Ron Marsico, a Pennsylvania state representative.

Marsico posted 10 percent of $100,000 bail after being arraigned Saturday night. A preliminary hearing is set for next month.
