Lane Vs. Mendte, CBS Trial Will Be in Philly

CBS is appealing the ruling

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has ruled that the civil suit filed by ex-CBS anchor Alycia Lane against Larry Mendte and her former employer be tried her in the City of Brotherly Love, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

CBS, however, maintains that they want the trial to take place in a New York courtroom. The network is appealing the courtโ€™s ruling. They say that their former anchor had a clause in her contract stating that any cases against CBS be tried in New York, reports the paper.

Laneโ€™s attorney, Paul Rosen says that isnโ€™t so.

โ€œThere are no claims under her contract which would permit the trial to be heard in New York,โ€ Rosen tells the Daily News.

Lane filed a suit in 2008 against Larry Mendte and CBS following an admission by Mendte that he hacked into her personal computer and viewed hundreds of personal email during their time together on the newsdesk. He says that he did so after ending what he called a "flirtatious, unprofessional and improper relationship." Lane claims that Mendte initiated any romantic advances.

She also alleges that CBS foiled her reputation by letting her go.

Lane has since moved on to anchor the morning news for KNBC in Los Angeles.
