Mendte pleaded guilty in August to a charge that he illegally accessed Lane's e-mail. He awaits sentencing in November. Court papers said he read thousands of Lane's e-mails from 2006 to 2008.

Among others, Lane's lawsuit also names KYW-TV, the station that employed the two. She accuses the station of defaming her before and after she was fired after being arrested in December following a scuffle with New York police.

Mendte's attorney, Michael Schwartz, declined to comment on the lawsuit. A representative of the television station also declined to comment.
