Jogger Stops to Help, Ends Up Fighting Off Attacker

Police have released a sketch of a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a jogger in suburban Philadelphia.

Tredyffrin Township Police say the 25-year-old woman was running through the tunnel underpass between the Treyburn Development and the Evolve Business Complex in Wayne, Pa. on Monday, around 3 p.m. when she happened upon a man sitting on the running trail who looked injured.

As the woman slowed down to help, the man sexually assaulted her, according to police.

The woman managed to fight off the stocky man who had a 6-inch scar with pronounced stitches on one calf and ran to a nearby business where she called police, according to investigators.

"There were no words exchanged until the end of the assault and he stated, 'you're running toward my house,'" said Tredyffrin Township Police Lt. Taro Landis.

Police said the man was wearing a light blue, short-sleeved shirt and light-colored shorts at the time of the assault.

The woman was treated for minor injuries at a hospital and released a few hours later.

Tuesday afternoon, police released a sketch of both the suspect and the scar.
